Gary Malerba received his BA in Photo Journalism from Oakland University. Before that, he had been taking photos of rock shows in Detroit since the 1980s. A mainstay on the arena concert circuit for decades, Gary has amassed a huge collection of live performance photographs of world-renowned artists like Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, Social Distortion, Prince, KISS, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, and many, many more.
Gary has also photographed local, Detroit musicians over the years, and his photos have been the cover images of many albums as well as publicity and promotional materials for local bands.
Gary spent many years as staff photographer at local newspapers where he honed his craft for local, regional, and national news stories.
Gary's music photography has been published in Rolling Stone, Spin, and other high-profile music publications, and his Editorial work has been published in major publications like The Washington Post, The New York Times, and circulated via the Associated Press all around the world.
